4 Army men killed in encounter

Srinagar, November 25
Two militants, four security personnel and an SPO were killed in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley since yesterday.

The police here said that four Army personnel, including a JCO of the 62 RR , were killed in an encounter with militants in Nildoora village near Shopian in Pulwama district in the wee hours today. A local militant of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, identified as Sajad Ahmad Chopan, was also killed in the encounter. The police and security forces cordoned off the area to flush out the militant. However, four of them escaped.

Acting on specific information, the forces cordoned off nearby Shahlatu village, a police spokesman said. A militant tried to break the cordon. He was killed in the encounter that followed, the spokesman said.

An SPO was killed and three others, including two jawans and a civilian, were injured in an encounter with militants at Rampora, Bandipore, in Baramula district today. The encounter was on till the filing of the report.
