Poll awakens ‘sleeping’ PU Senators

“Elections are elections. And even a single vote is precious,” said Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, Member of Parliament. Mr Badal was responding to a question asked by mediapersons, when he came to cast his vote at the Panjab University today.
PU syndicate poll a one-sided affair

Panjab University syndicate elections remained a one-sided affair with majority of the candidates proposed by senators of the ‘rotation group’ elected unopposed. In a virtual repeat of last year’s elections, the day witnessed voting only for syndicate members from the languages, medical science and combined faculty.
Nithari murder case: family rallies around Mohinder

A day after a local businessman, Mohinder Singh, was arrested in connection with the disappearance of 38 children in Nithari village, his family rallied around him terming the allegations as “baseless”.

CCTV cameras to monitor traffic in Mohali: Dhillon

elaborate plans to install closed-circuit TV cameras to monitor traffic
here and to effectively seal the town in case of an emergency. Mr
G.S.Dhillon, SSP, told mediapersons here yesterday that in order to
monitor traffic and maintain security, 40 CCTV cameras will be installed
at various points in the town.

Doctor denies charges of negligence
Chandigarh, December 30
Reacting to a news item “Doc leaves surgery midway” published in Chandigarh Tribune on Saturday, Dr Neeraj Nagpal, proprietor of Hope Gastrointestinal Diagnostic Clinic, Sector 21, said that a sum of Rs 2,200 (not Rs 7,500) was charged from the patient, Mrs Manni Devi, and a receipt was issued for the same.

Lineman electrocuted
Panchkula, December 30
A 50-year-old lineman belonging to Nada village was electrocuted today while trying to replace a faulty conductor in Sector 21. Victim Krishan Lal's body was charred as a result of the incident.
