Fog claims one life
: One person was killed and nine others were injured as a private mini bus overturned and fell into a ditch on the Sri Hargobindpur-Batala road near Umarpura village today. Poor visibility due to foggy conditions was stated to be the cause of the accident. The condition of four seriously injured and admitted into Batala Civil Hospital was said to be critical, according to the police.

Arhtiyas support cotton ginners
: The District Arhtiya Association has come out in the support of the striking cotton ginners. The association announced the arhtiyas would also observe total strike tomorrow. They said that 1 per cent Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess was unjustified and the government should have withdrawn it in the interests of the ginners and the farmers.

Body found hanging
: The police has recovered a body hanging from a tree at Bairghatta village of Palampur subdivision of Kangra district. The body was said to be of a Nepali migrant who was yet to be identified. The body has been sent to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination. 

New sub-station
: A new 33 KV sub station would shortly be commissioned at Varma Papri village, Mr Sada Nand Chouhan, local MLA, said. Ambwala, Sainwala, Salani Katola, Varma Papri, Palio, Tirlokpur, Kolawala, Bhur Kayari, Surla Chakli and Devka Pudla panchayats would benefit from it.

Undertrial escapes
: An undertrial Deepak Kumar of Khehar village, escaped from police custody while he was being taken to Dharamsala after appearing in a judicial court here on Saturday. According to the DSP, manhunt has been launched to re-arrest the accused. Cases under sections 224 and
223 of the IPC had been registered against the Deepak and police constables accompanying him. Deepak along with six persons was arrested for looting a house at Kapari village in Hadal gram  panchayat.
