Rainfall: Weather was mainly dry over the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose in west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were below normal in Punjab, above normal in west Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 2°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until 3rd January 2007: Rain/snow is likely at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in north Haryana, Punjab and northwest Uttar Pradesh during the next two nights.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until 3rd January 2007: Cold and foggy day. The minimum temperature will be around 8°C.
