Noida killings: UP forms SIT
Addl SP to head team

Noida, January 4
Under all-round attack over its handling of the case, the Uttar Pradesh police today constituted a special investigation team (SIT) headed by an Additional SP to go into the gruesome killings of children in Nithari village that has evoked nationwide outrage.

The two accused Moninder Singh Pandher, a businessman in whose house the grisly killings took place and his servant Surendra Koli, were today taken to Ahmedabad for a narco-analysis tests.

A day after the state government took some action against policemen and officers for prima facie negligence in handling the reports of missing children over two years, Mr Sreekrishan, Additional SP, Baghpat, was named to head the team that will pick up the threads from the Noida police.

The new team, which is likely to have more than 10 members, will consist of three Deputy SPs, inspectors and others and will function under the overall supervision of Noida SSP R K S Rathore, DIG Meerut Range S P Singh said.

Mr Rathore told reporters the team would also interrogate the accused. “The team will help in speeding up the investigation and will ensure that nothing is left out,” he said.

The Noida police has been under attack over its negligence in handling the cases of missing children in the area over the last two years.

The state government last night suspended two Superintendents of Police and sacked six policemen who were found prima facie guilty of negligence.

Piyush Mordia, who was SSP Noida during the time the grisly murder and sexual abuse of children took place and is now posted in neighbouring Ghaziabad, was suspended along with Soumitra Yadav, Additional SP, Noida. — PTI
