Appointed
KARNAL: D.N Diwakar has been appointed working president of the Haryana Union of Journalists (HUJ) at a meeting held here on Monday. Hailing Diwakar's appointment president of the HUJ Virender Chauhan said it would strengthen the journalists' body. Chauhan said elections of the office-bearers of HUJ would be held soon.

Body found
Rewari: The body of Durga Dutt Sharma (46), a rickshaw-puller of Mohalla Gujjarwara here, was found by the city police lying among bushes at the roadside near Kali Mata Temple in T.P. Scheme-9 Area here, on Saturday. The body was sans clothes. The police also recovered a bloodstained stone as well as the rickshaw of the deceased near the body. According to reports Durga Dutt was stoned to death on Friday night after which the miscreants burnt his clothes and singed his face as well. The police has registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC in this regard.

Leadership flayed
Rewari: Mr Raghu Yadav, former legislator and a firebrand politician, said here on Saturday that weak leadership was responsible for the ills of the Ahirwal region. Addressing a press conference, he said it was shameful that with the sole purpose of obtaining some petty personal gains almost all ministers, MPs and MLAs had been indulging in flattery in utter disregard to the people's requirements and problems. Mr Yadav said the dismal situation of the region would be discussed at the 39th Samast Ahirwal Sarvajati Mahapanchayat here on Makar Sankranti (January 14).

Held for murder
Rewari: The police has arrested Rakesh Kumar Yadav of Boodhi Bawal village of Alwar district in Rajasthan, in connection with the murder of Kudia Ram Yadav (56), a resident of Bambad village, near here. During interrogation the accused Rakesh Yadav reportedly confessed to the crime. He revealed that he had purposely hit Kudia Ram Yadav with his vehicle after which the body was abandoned on National Highway 8 near Kathuwas village, about 12 km from here, on Sunday evening (December 31). He also reportedly confessed that he had eliminated Yadav due to a financial dispute. The body was recovered by the police on Monday morning. The police had registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC.
