65 units of blood donated

Ludhiana, January 19
Nearly 65 units of blood was collected at a blood donation camp organised by Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital here today to commemorate National Youth Day.

The camp, held under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services, Punjab, was inaugurated by Bakshi Mohinder Singh, president of the hospital trust. Meanwhile, a free medical camp was organised by Shiromani Gurmat Diwan Sarb Hind at Ambedkar Dharamshala near Baba Than Singh Chowk here yesterday.

The area councillor, Mr Sanjay Talwar, inaugurated the camp in which nearly 300 patients were examined.

Facilities for blood pressure and blood sugar level testing were extended to the patients, who also received free medicines at the camp.

Students apprised of dental technique

Students of Sportking Institute of Fashion Technology here came face to face with the latest advancements in dentistry and issues like cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry during a lecture by a dental surgeon, Dr Gagan Dogra, in the institute on Thursday.

Ms Anjali Awasthi, Director of the institute, presided over the function.

Discussing the latest advancements in dental technology, Dr Dogra explained their benefits over the conventional techniques. He emphasised the role of dental implants for the aesthetic and functional purposes.

Dr Dogra focused on various cosmetic (smile enhancing) procedures, such as teeth whitening, ceramic laminates, crowns, composite restorations.
