OBC Quota Law SC to Govt: Clear your stand New Delhi, January 31
The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Centre on a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the new law on reservation providing for 27 per cent quota to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in institutions of higher learning.
Nod for quota in medical PG The Union Government was today allowed by the Supreme Court to carry out admissions in the postgraduate medical courses under the 50 per cent central quota with reservation to SC and ST students available as per the constitutional provisions.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today ordered a judicial inquiry into the killing of an innocent boy, Abdul Rehman Padroo, in a fake encounter allegedly by an assistant sub-inspector of police in Srinagar to get a reward of Rs 1.20 lakh.
