Professors given farewell
Ludhiana January 31 A function in honour of the retirees and their spouses was organised by the Veterinary Faculty Association where Dr V. K. Taneja, Vice-Chancellor, Dr S S Singh, Dean College of Veterinary Science, Dr O S Parmar, Director of Extension, Dr S K Jand, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, Dr A S Nanda, Director of Research and Dr K S Sandhu, Director, attended the function. Dr Bhupinder Singh, senior geneticist and principal investigator of the All India Coordinated Project and Head, Department of Animal Breeding, and Genetics worked in different capacities in the department. He assumed the office of the head on September 4 last year and has been instrumental in developing an outstanding broiler, IBL-80, which became very popular in the state. This broiler project played a pivotal role in developing poultry farming in Punjab and adjoining states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, Haryana and even in Delhi. Dr K C Chaudhary, Professor, veterinary biochemistry, started his career as research assistant in the Department of Chemistry, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in 1969. He worked in different capacities in the Departments of Biochemistry and Animal Sciences. He remained Head of the Department of Veterinary Biochemistry, College of Veterinary Science, PAU/GADVASU from 2000 to 2004. He worked as post-doctorate fellow in University of Manitoba, Winnipeg - Canada and Harvard Medical School, Boston, Cambridge, USA. |
Book on research methodology released
Ludhiana January 31 Speaking on the occasion, the author elaborated that the book is simplified like a manual for the students of M.Ed, MBA, BBA, M.Phil, Commerce, Journalism and other beginners who want to resume research, especially in social sciences. The book covers the syllabus prescribed by various universities in the subject. Ms Harpreet Kaur said since there were not many books available in this area specific for Indian students, there was a need to have a book with self-learning mode. The book will be beneficial to the students for research purpose. Dr Rakesh Chander, Principal, BCED, lauded the efforts of authors and said academicians should strive to write books specific to the requirements of Indian students but of International standard. Dr A.S Bansal, Director, appreciated the efforts of authors for their endeavour. "By reading such books, students can compete at international level", said Dr Bansal. |
