HELD WITH LIQUOR: Kuldeep Singh Chuharchack was arrested in the Dangian area and around 15 lt illicit liquor seized from his possession. The police has registered a case under Sections 61, 1, 14 of the Excise Act.

BOOKED FOR ASSAULT: Mohinder Singh, Raju Singh and Bhagwan Singh of Akkuwal allegedly assaulted Prem Kaur of their village with a sharp-edged weapon. The Sidhwan Bet police has registered a case under Sections 323, 341 and 34 of the IPC following a complaint by Ajaib Singh, husband of the injured woman. The injured has been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Jagraon. Some dispute on throwing garbage is said to be the reason behind the incident. No arrest has been made so far.



Nair Club Mahindra head: Club Mahindra Holidays has appointed Mr K V. Madhu Nair as the Regional Head -Operations (North). He will be posted in Chandigarh and will be reporting to Mr Ulrich Wolffram, Head - Operations, Club Mahindra.

New scheme: Connect has launched semi-manned public access telephone service in Chandigarh and Punjab, with smart wall-mounted units that can be installed outside the shops so that the users can make a call anytime. Besides Chandigarh, these PCO boxes will also be launched in Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Bathinda. Customers can now call any destination on any phone across India from this smart Coin Collection Box PCOs. The calls are charged on 60 seconds pulse for local and 30 seconds for intra-Punjab and STD calls. Users can make calls by inserting Re 1 coin for each pulse and can continue to talk by inserting more coins when prompted.
