Budda Nullah: DC asked to probe violation of directives

The International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO) today asked the Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner (DC) to investigate the violation of health, human rights and environmental laws in the case of Budda Nullah by the district administration.

Sullage stinks as sewer gets choked

Water has accumulated on a long patch along the Rani Jhansi Road following the blockage of the sewer in the area. The residents of the area said despite repeated representations made to the municipal authorities, no action has been taken so far.

Thefts on rise in New Rajguru Nagar area

Residents of the Rajguru Nagar area are a scared lot these days as there has been an increase in theft and burglary incidences in the recent past. Majority of these incidents have happened in the area adjoining Ayali Chowk, which falls under the New Rajguru Nagar Gram Panchayat.

The Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Punjab Agricultural University, will organise a flower show and competition on February 27-28. 50 pc school kids prone to chickenpox: study
Ludhiana, February 20
As many as 50 per cent of schoolchildren in the industrial capital of the state are not vaccinated against chickenpox and thus, run the risk of contracting the highly contagious disease. A similar trend is prevalent almost all over the country which is evident from the case of the national capital where just about 31 per cent of the schoolchildren are immunised against the disease.
