Woman killed by kin: Sarla Verma, physical education teacher, was shot dead inside the residential colony of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalya Mahianwali village in the neighbouring Sriganganagar area on Tuesday. Her brother Rajesh Kumar with the help of a friend allegedly committed the murder. He was unhappy with his sister for marrying Rakesh Mehrada on January 4 without parents consent.

He died of cardiac arrest on Monday evening. Jagdeep (48), was also represented Dainik Tribune.
House collapse: Six persons were injured, one of them seriously, in roof collapse of a house on Tuesday. House owned by Municipal Council employee Mohinder Kumar on street 12 in Nai Abadi collapsed. All those injured were sitting on beds under the roof.
2 die in mishap: Two persons were killed on the spot and two received serious injuries in a truck tractor-trailer collision near a dera on the Phillaur-Ludhiana road on Tuesday night. The deceased have been identified as Brij Lal and Sarabjit, both residents of nearby Gadra village, who along with other members of the family were coming from Ludhiana to Gadra village in a tractor-trailer.
Appointment hailed: President and general secretary of the Anti-corruption Front, Capt Rashpal Singh and Mehma Singh Kang, president of the Punjabi Lekhak Manch, Prof Baldeep, and general secretary, Dr Gulzar Mohd Goria, have hailed the decision of the Punjab Government's to appoint Dr Jagtar Singh Khattra as DPI (S), Punjab. Appreciating the decision, the leaders said Dr Khattra was a prominent educationist and had been awarded by the Punjab School Education Board for his anti-copying campaign when he was the principal at Samrala.
