IT surveys yield Rs 6 cr concealed income
Ludhiana, March 9
As the current financial year is about to end, the income tax department here has gone into overdrive mode in a bid to achieve the target for revenue collection. A series of simultaneous surveys conducted on eight business houses in different parts of the city on March 7 and March 8 had yielded an unaccounted income of Rs 6 crore while surveys on a couple of more units were still in progress.

Punjab can't stop water to Rajasthan, Haryana: experts

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's assertion to stop all water to Rajasthan and Haryana notwithstanding, legal and constitutional experts maintain that Punjab, as on now, cannot stop flow of water to any of the states for various legal and practical reasons.

Seminar on role of women in media

The Woman 2007, an exhibition dedicated to women, was inaugurated here today. The three-day event would offer a wide range of products, including apparel and jewellery for women.

Antakshari auditions
Chandigarh, March 9
The auditions for Star-One TV programme Antakshari (Annu Kapoor fame), for north zone will be held at Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana from 10 am to 6 pm on March 11. The auditions will be for the close relations like sisters, brothers, mother-daughter, father-daughter etc. There is no age bar.

 
SPORTS

Ritu best athlete
Ludhiana, March 9
Ritu secured 25 points and was declared the best athlete in the 11th annual athletics meet of Satguru Ram Singh Government Polytechnic Girls College, Rishi Nagar, which concluded here today. Ritu won three titles yesterday and added one more to her kitty today besides finishing runner up in the 100 m sprint today.
