Lights at Beantís statue lose lustre within a week

Admn gears up for wheat procurement

The district administration has directed the heads of all procurement agencies and officers of the departments concerned to give final touches to the arrangements for the smooth procurement of wheat in the coming procurement season which will commence from April 1.

Gang of criminals active in trains

A group of criminals today manhandled a passenger after he resisted their attempt to lift his cell phone while on his way from Jallandhar to Delhi in the Malwa Express that runs daily between Jammu and Indore. Had it not been for the help from other co-passengers he would have been thrown out of the running train by the criminals.

Selenium-toxicity has been observed in the animals of some of the villages in Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahar districts of Punjab. Revealing this KS Dhillon of department of soils, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, said selenium (Se) concentration in the soil-plant systems was directly related to the health of animals and human beings.

500 examined at medical camp

More than 500 patients were examined and free medicines distributed to them at a free homeopathic medical check-up camp organised by Dr Kitchlu Nagar branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad at Sumitra Devi Aggarwal Charitable Dispensary here yesterday.

Namdharis, Air India XI in semifinals

Namdhari XI, Bhaini Sahib, and current champions Indian Airlines, Delhi, battled it out to draw four-all in their last league encounter today. They secured berths in the semifinals of the 4th All India Guru Gobind Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament being organised jointly by the Ludhiana Sportsmen Welfare Association and the PAU Hockey Club under the patronage of the Punjab Rural Sports Promotion Council at the Prithipal Singh Astro Turf Stadium of Punjab Agricultural University here.
