Crop insurance under consideration
Compensation for damaged crops hiked

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced to enhance the compensation to farmers for the damage to their crops in case of natural calamities from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 per acre.

Funds for Bhaini Sahib development soon: CM 
Ludhiana March 24
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced reconstitution of the Bhaini Sahib Raiyan Development Board to ensure fast integrated development of historic Bhaini Sahib headquarters of Namdhari Darbar. He said adequate funds would be released for all the remaining development projects.

Bus overturns, 19 injured 
Fatehgarh Sahib, March 24
A PRTC bus on its way from Patiala to Jalandhar overturned yesterday evening near village Kharori on the Patiala-Sirhind road. 19 passengers and driver of the bus were  seriously injured and have been rushed to the civil hospital Fatehgarh Sahib.

The seminar on Indian Diasporic Writings commenced at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College here yesterday. Prof Jasbir Jain, Emeritus Fellow, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur delivered the keynote address, in which she dwelt at length on the poetics of the diaspora, with a sharp focus on the aesthetics of the Indian Diasporic writings, in which the cultural encounters were heavily loaded against the Indian.

Private hospitals urged to provide free TB treatment
Ludhiana, March 24
Ludhiana TB Eradication Society and the Ludhiana Nursing Home and Hospital Association have made a strong plea with all private hospitals in the city to set up DOT centres for detection and free treatment of tuberculosis (TB), which was assuming threatening proportions in the industrial hub of the state.
