Anti-foeticide steps: More than 90 cases have been registered in connection with female foeticide and licences of 247 ultrasound centres suspended last year, revealed A.R. Talwar Principal Secretary Health and Family here on Saturday. He added four ultrasound centres have been punished for unethical practices. He said female foeticide Act has been enforced in state for which 1190 ultrasound centres have been registered.

Woman tortured:
Davinder Kaur was tortured by her husband Bhupinder Singh and brother-in-law Paramjit Singh of Kotla Naudh for dowry, said Mohinder Kaur, mother of Davinder Kaur. “They did not spare her during her pregnancy as a result she lost the foetus. A case under Sections 498 A and 34 of the IPC has been registered.”

Woman insulted: The grandmother of Sumit, Kulwant Kaur’s face was blackened and she was beaten up by family members of Sukhi, daughter of Billa of Salwara. The family was enraged as Sumit had eloped with Sukhi. A case has been registered against Sukhi's mother, grandfather, uncle Harjinder Singh and others on Thursday.

One dies: Kulwinder Singh of Mohalla Kamalpur was allegedly killed by Sandip Kumar of local Sukhiabad locality. A conversation between Sandip Kumar and Kulwinder Singh at local taxi stand near bus stand, led to a quarrel after which Kulwinder fainted and died.

: Residents of Rattanpura Mohalla started a cleanliness drive on Saturday. They opened manholes and started cleaning the blocked sewerage with the help of long bamboo sticks. The residents have hired water tankers to blow in water into the blocked sewers.
