All a person with political aspirations requires is a seat of power and a lal batti wali gadi. But Jalandhar BJP MLA Krishan Dev Bhandari, even after winning the Assembly seat, still moves around in the city on a scooter. I think he feels that by moving around on a scooter, there are less chances of being stranded in the traffic. The father of such a son is bound to be disappointed. "Bete ne mera naam miti mein milaya diya. I had thought that one day when my son becomes an MLA, he would give us a ride in his lal batti wali gadi!"

Imagine the scene of the MLA sitting on his scooter and a security guard sitting behind him cautioning him, "Sahib, be careful. There is a red light on the crossing ahead".

Mr Bhandari says that life is the same even after becoming an MLA. He further justifies that anybody can stop him on the way. If that is so then he should move on foot. Then more people can interact with him while he is on his way to the office.

Another interesting fact known about Mr Bhandari is that even after being an MLA he still continues with his wrestling practice. So if you seek an appointment with this MLA, the best way is to wear a langot, oil your body well, pat your thighs and jump into the wrestling akhara.
