LCET holds 'Anahad 2K7'

The Ludhiana College of Engineering and Technology (LCET), Katani Kalan, organised its annual function 'Anahad 2K7' here recently.

Justice A.N. Jindal from the Punjab and Haryana High Court was the chief guest on the occasion. Vijay Gupta, chairman of the college, while welcoming the chief guest apprised the audience of the journey of Justice Jindal from the village of Badrukhan in Sangrur district to being the sitting Justice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

J.S. Sohal, principal of the college, presented the annual report highlighting students’ achievements in academic, sports, cultural and technical competitions, and professional and career advancements of the faculty.

Sohal named students who bagged the university positions. They included Ashok Kumar, Neha Gupta, Suruchi and Neha Garg.

Dr Sohal highlighted the training programmes and seminars organised by the training and placement cell of the college and recognised the achievements of the cell in achieving more than 85 per cent of the placements of the first batch, which passed out in 2006.

In his address, Justice Jindal appreciated the achievements of the college and congratulated the management and faculty in imparting technical education to the youth.

Justice Jindal made a special reference to the vision of the management and the principal in the establishment of the Renewable Energy Club in collaboration with PEDA, Punjab, and installation of a project of solar energy in the college.

The chief guest released LCET Journal of Management, LCET Times (college newsletter) and the college brochure for 2007-2008.

MGM Public School holds contests

Ludhiana, April 30
MGM Public School has organised an inter-house declamation contest for the senior wing and an inter-house poetry recitation competition for the primary wing.

Advitya Bhanot of class III-A won the first prize, Jadjot Kaur of class IV-B second and Kiranjot of class V-B the third prize in the poetry competition.

Sapanpreet Kaur of class X-B won the first prize, Taranpreet Kaur of class X-B second and Kareena Gill of class X-B the third prize in the declamation contest.

Fancy dress competition

A fancy dress competition was organised for the tiny tots of KG of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, here today. The function was presided over by school principal S.C. Saxena.

The judges were Sonia Verma, in charge, middle section, and Annu Sebra, in charge, primary section.

In the LKG section, the first prize was bagged by Bhavyam Somani (dressed as Don), whereas the second and third prizes were given to Sanchit Garg (fisherman) and Riya and Rohnit Dhir (statue). Angel Ashdhir as “chaney wali” got the consolation prize.

In the UKG section, the first prize was bagged by Chhavi Sood (puppet), whereas the second prize was shared by Gurjot Kaur (unborn girl child) and Tanush Manchanda (Shravan Kumar). Siyastha Khurana (departmental store) got the third prize and consolation prize was given to Ananya Kapoor, who was dressed as tap.

Quiz competitions

Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar, organised quiz contests for different classes. Fun games were held for classes 1 and II. Students were divided into six teams and the winner teams comprised Vanshika , Tarandeep, Rehmat and Kritika.

A mathematical quiz was organised for the classes VI to VIII. There were four teams named after mathematicians Brahma Gupta, Bhaskara, Gauss and Pell. The Brahma Gupta team was declared the winner and the participants were Bhavik, Vishesh and Shubham.

Another quiz was organised for classes IX to XII. There were six teams. Questions related to general science, general knowledge, social science and Indian culture were asked in four rounds. The winner team had Vikram, Viraj, Varun and Karan as participants

Declamation contest

Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, organised an inter-class English declamation contest for class VI in the school auditorium today. Gurmeet Kaur of section A won the first prize, Ashmeen Kaur of F second and Gurleen Kaur of H bagged the third prize.
