62 liquor vends sealed
Chandigarh, May 1
The UT excise department today sealed at least 62 vends across the city. Of the total 208 vends allotted so far under the new excise policy, 66 vends are in make-shift structures.
The vends were sealed as the allottees failed to convert the make-shift
structures into pre-fabricated structures christened as ‘Taverns’. The
deadline for raising the pre-fabricated structures was April 30.

In a hit-and-run case, Arun Kumar, a Sector-34 resident, was seriously injured after a rash car driver hit his motor cycle near the traffic lights at the newly constructed road dividing Sectors 31 and 32 last night.

In some cases, cops just don’t move

The police is fighting shy of registering and investigating certain cases. A case in point is of a migrant labourer, who was allegedly robbed of Rs 3,000 and assaulted two days ago. Even as the matter was reported to the police yesterday, which had no knowledge of the alleged crime, cops let the victim go without investigating his allegations.

Woman sustains burns
Chandigarh, May 1
A 25-year-old married woman allegedly suffered burns yesterday morning at her Ram Darbar residence while cooking meals. He sustained 20 per cent burns in the incident, said the police.
