Administration decides to raise relief

The UT’s policy to acquire agriculture land for public purposes is in for a major change. After Punjab’s announcement to offer the market rate for acquisition of land to its farmers, the Chandigarh administration has decided to offer similar relief for land acquisition on its periphery.

After CII, 24 bhavans found breaching rules

Close on the heels of the estate office deciding to issue a notice to the Confederation of Indian Industry for use of premises for commercial activity, which is not allowed, the office has issued notices to more than 24 bhavans and sabhas in the city on the same ground.

Pirated CDs siezed
Chandigarh, May 4
The local police arrested Lucky, a resident of Mohali, on the complaint of Jaswant Singh of Jalandhar. The police recovered 13,142 pirated CDs from his shop Video 22, Sector 22. A case under sections 51, 52A, 63, 64, 66 and 68A of Copy Right Act has been registered at police station Sector 17.

6 booked for looting

The police has booked six persons on a charge of looting a Panchkula resident at gun point. According to the police, unidentified persons had taken away a gold kara, Rs 50,000 and two mobile phones.
