MC warns city against wastage

In view of reports of water shortage from different parts of the city, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has warned the residents not to waste potable water, otherwise action would be initiated against them.

The demand for cows’ milk has multiplied in the recent past. This is being attributed to the fact that people are becoming more health conscious. Buffaloes’ milk is regarded to be rich in cholesterol which can lead to cardiac problems.

Modern mandi to be set up at Ladhowal
Ludhiana May 5
The Punjab Mandi Board has decided to set up modern mandis in all districts of the state in an area of 40 acres each. One model mandi in an area of 200 acres would be set up at Ladhowal, near here. Disclosing this here today, the chairman, Punjab Mandi Board, Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, said the move was aimed at providing farmers with the facility to dispose of their products in the nearby places. He said the mandis would have the best facilities available anywhere in the world.

The Chamber of Punjab Farmers has decided to set up a market intelligence wing to monitor the trends in the commodity market. This would help the farmers to sell or withhold their produce according to the market climate.

LMC cuts road to develop park

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) is allegedly encroaching upon a part of a road to develop a green belt in Urban Estate, Phase I, Dugri, and leaving a piece of the green belt land to connect a street in Urban Estate to the main road in order to benefit an individual.

Villagers made aware of drug menace
Mandi Ahmedgarh, May 5
Terming drug addiction to be a breeding bowl for many social evils and crimes, the SSP, Khanna, has called upon leaders of various social, religious and educational organisations to contribute in a move launched by the Khanna district police against the menace. He directed the circle officer at Payal to focus his attention on teenagers.

Newly appointed president of BJP’s state unit Rajinder Bhandari has assured the legal fraternity of all possible help in resolving their problems as also of the acute shortage of water.

3 booked for assault over land dispute
Jagraon, May 5
Surjit Singh, his son Jarnail Singh and Pardeep Singh of Gujjarwal, have allegedly assaulted Mohinder Pal Singh of the same village, with a gandasi and an iron rod. The Dehlon police has registered a case under Sections 324, 323 and 34 of the IPC.  The injured has been admitted to the civil hospital of Pakhowal.

Land banks to be created for industry
Ludhiana, May 5
The state government would soon start identifying areas for 'land banks' where industry can establish according to its requirements. Barren or less fertile land would be used for this purpose. The government is also considering declaration of residential areas where industry is located as industrial areas.

Students honoured
Ludhiana, May 5
Sacred Heart Convent School celebrated Institution Day here on Saturday at Ruby Jubilee Auditorium wherein students were honoured for achieving excellence in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. The programme began with a prayer dance. Students presented a skit “Compassionate Love”.

The Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT) organized an international conference on the "Managementic challenges in the present era" here today. In the inaugural session, Dr (Col) H. S. Singha welcomed the dignitaries and delegates from the industry and various educational institutions all over India and abroad. The participants had come from Chennai, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh.
