Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. The weather was dry in the rest of the region.

Temperatures: The maximum temperatures rose in Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Punjab and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 44°C recorded at Bundi (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 16: Isolated rain/thundershowers are likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Isolated dust storm/thunderstorm are likely in the rest of the region.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: A western disturbance is likely to affect over Northwest India. Under its influence rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Isolated dust storm/thunderstorm are likely in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 16: Mainly clear sky. Possibility of dust storm/thunderstorm towards evening. The maximum temperature will be around 39°C.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Dust storm/thunderstorm likely at isolated places.

Temperatures soar

Chandigarh, May 14
Amritsar today turned out to be the hottest place in Punjab, with mercury crossing the 40°C mark as temperatures showed a rising trend at other places in the region.

Amritsar recorded a high of 40.3°C while the high at Ludhiana settled at 40°C, the Met Department said here.

Patiala also braved a hot day registering a high of 39.5°C. Chandigarh also faced sultry conditions as the high settled at 38.2°C.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 38.3°C while Karnal too recorded a similar maximum at 38.4°C.

The Met has forecast dust storm or thunder storm is likely at isolated places in the region by tomorrow. — PTI
