Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Jammu and Kashmir: Srinagar 1 and West Uttar Pradesh: Hindon 1.

Temperatures: The maximum temperatures rose in Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were markedly above normal in Jammu and Kashmir, above normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 44.9°C recorded at Hisar.

Forecast valid until the morning of May 18: Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand and at a few places in Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh. Dust storms/thunderstorms are likely at a few places in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Rajasthan. Isolated thunder-squalls are likely in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Day temperatures are likely to fall over the region.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Decrease in rainfall activity.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 18: Mainly clear sky likely to become partly cloudy with possibility of rain/thundershowers accompanied with squall in some areas. The maximum temperature will be around 40°C.

Farmers’ weather bulletin for Delhi: Forecast valid until the morning of May 18: Rain/thundershowers and squall with wind speed exceeding 65 kmph is likely at a few places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Decrease in rainfall activity.
