Temperatures rise in region

New Delhi, May 24
Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Temperatures: The maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir, rose in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were above normal in Himachal Pradesh, below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 43.3C recorded at Varanasi A.P. (Uttar Pradesh).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 26: Isolated rain/thundershowers are likely in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Isolated dust storm/thunderstorm likely in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 26: Mainly clear sky. The maximum temperature will be around 42C.
