Hotelier, Uzbek woman held

The Chandigarh Police busted a flesh trade racket in Mani Majra with the arrest of five men and three girls, including a 26-year-old Uzbekistan national. They were operating from a hotel in the Motor Market.

All three persons suspected to be involved in the Kajheri triple murder case have been sighted near their native village in Bhagalpur district in Bihar. The Chandigarh Police has sent a four-member team to the village.

Collector rates up by 30 pc
Chandigarh, May 27
The Chandigarh administration has increased the collector rates by 30 per cent. The revised rates for this year will come into force from tomorrow. While there is an average increase of 30 per cent on the rates of land, an increase on construction charges on floor prices for the purpose of stamp duty is 10 per cent.

20,580 kids given polio drops

As many as 20,580 children below five years of age were vaccinated against polio in Dera Bassi block today. Dr Ram Kumar, senior medical officer of the local Civil Hospital, informed that 140 teams, including four mobile and three transit teams, were deployed for the three-day campaign.

Haryana overcame a tough resistance from plucky Andhra Pradesh by a margin of just one goal in the final of the Federation Cup Korfball Tournament. LIC XI and Professional Cricket Club registered thumping victories over their rivals in the ongoing Hot Weather Cricket Tournament organised by the Chandigarh sports department at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, here today. LIC thrashed Chandigarh Club (CC) by 100 runs while PCC drubbed Quark Media (QM) by 10 wickets.
