This
is a stunning and
award-winning series that tells the fascinating story of Indians in
extraordinary times — the days of the British Raj replete with
sahibs, memsahibs and the natives. Set in northern India at
the time of the World War-II and the struggle for Independence, Jewel
In The Crown (June 13 at 9 pm) is the story of men and women whose
lives suffer violent, even catastrophic, changes in those traumatic
years of the country. Based on Paul Scott’s Raj Quartet — four
novels published between 1966 and 1975 — the series focuses on the
final years of the British in India. Using the rape of an English
woman as the fulcrum of the story, the series charts a moment of
crisis that changed British and Indian history. Winner of 23 major
awards, including a Primetime Emmy in the USA, and five awards
(including Best Drama Serial) from the British Academy of Film and
Television Arts, Jewel In The Crown is a not to be missed
series for those who cherish Indian history especially during the days
of the Raj.
Gorgeous ten
It was an evening of wild partying
as Channel [V] along with VJ Pia and designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil
hosted a glamorous party in Delhi to unveil the 10 finalists of [V]
Get Gorgeous from Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Mumbai. The girls hit
the dance floor to celebrate their selection. The finalists were
selected after a series of auditions. From doing the ramp in their
sexy bikinis to posing like style divas, the jury scored them on the
way they walked, their physical attributes, attitude and style.
Viewers will be taken through high drama, excitement and
tribulations of the process of identifying one winner who will set the
ramp on fire. The final winner will be taken through a series of
exciting makeovers by style experts, culminating with an annual
contract with Channel [V]. She would also get an opportunity to walk
the ramp for Indian and international designers and feature in global
fashion magazines. A heady break for any newcomer who aspires to go
the glamour way. — NF

till now erroneously thought to be an exclusive male preserve on TV,
has fallen to the charms of a young lady. Aarti Kandpal is out to

The Great Indian
Laughter Challenge (every Friday at 9 pm on Star One) has had a
welcome participant in Aarti. She is the first woman to appear on the

In fact with loads of
fresh comic talent from India and Pakistan — and now a woman
