Bibi Gurdial Khangura, a Congress leader and former member of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust, today denied the allegations that she had met or received any money from Today Homes people in connection with the multi-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam.

Gas tanker overturns, traffic hit
Ludhiana, June 15
Residents and business establishments around the Jalandhar Bypass Chowk had a providential escape when a tanker, filled with 12 tonne gas, overturned while negotiating a roundabout today but fortunately did not explode.

The Municipal Corporation's plans to lay a service lane from Bharat Nagar Chowk to Arti Chowk suffered a jolt today when they received status quo orders from a local court following a petition by the five-star Park Plaza hotel.

Demand to exempt small taxpayers from new form
Ludhiana, June 15
The Taxation Bar Association (TBA) has reiterated its demand for exempting small taxpayers, with an annual income of up to Rs 5 lakh from the newly introduced income tax return (ITR) form which was very complicated in comparison to the old “Saral” form.

Medicos chip in for child’s surgery

But for the considerate doctors in the paediatric surgery of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here, and the compassionate medical students, who chipped in with required funds for a complex surgery, five-day old baby Karthick’s life would have been in peril with all the possibilities of being snuffed out. The newborn child, hailing from Uttarakhand, was brought to the CMCH in a serious condition by his mother, who had been deserted by her husband in the hour of crisis.
