Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Haryana and Punjab, at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at a few places in east Rajasthan and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region.
The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are:
New Delhi (Safdarjung) 7, Delhi Ridge and New Delhi (Palam) 5 each, Karnal and Nilokheri 3 each, Ayanagar and Thanesar 2 each and Ambala, Chandigarh, Hisar and Rohtak 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Basholi 2, Punjab: Patiala 3, Adampur and Halwara 2 each and Ludhiana 1, East Rajasthan: Rawatbhata 5, Bharatpur 4 and Kota 1, East Uttar Pradesh: Ballia and Gorakhpur 4 each and Varanasi City 1, West Uttar Pradesh: Jhansi 6 and Bareilly 2.
Temperature:
The maximum temperatures rose appreciably in east Uttar Pradesh, rose in Uttaranchal, fell markedly in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, fell appreciably in the rest of the region. They were largely below normal in Haryana, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh, markedly below normal in Himachal Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 45.2°C recorded at Suratgarh (Rajasthan).
