9 out of 15 water samples fail purity test

Putting a question mark on the claims of the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, for supplying clean potable water, nine water samples out of 15 collected from Makkar Colony and Shanti Nagar, where a gastroenteritis outbreak claimed six lives in the recent past, have failed the purity test.

Master Tara Singh’s birth anniversary function on July 7

Hira Singh Gabria, minister for jails, tourism and cultural affairs and printing and stationery, Punjab, today said the Punjab Government was celebrating the 123th birth anniversary of Master Tara Singh by organising a state- level function on July 7 at Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women .

However, the greeting cards made by Kanti Shah from Gujarat have a novelty. These cards have been made in colourful geometrical designs like those seen in kaleidoscope with colourful threads on plain white paper.

Cashless medical facility renewed for FCI employees

FCI employees and their dependents can now get cashless medical treatment at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) following the renewal of relevant agreement with the hospital yesterday.

Another endocrinologist joins CMC

CMC Hospital's Department of Medicine has set up a special endocrinology and diabetes clinic under Dr Jubbin Jagan Jacob who has recently joined the hospital after completing his DNB Higher Specialities (endocrinology) from the Christian Medical College, Vellore.

SAI trials begin today
Ludhiana, July 3
The stage is set for the selection trials for the admission of players for the training centre of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) which is to restart here at the Guru Nanak Sports Complex after a gap of nine years. The three-day trials will commence at the Guru Nanak Stadium here tomorrow.
