Kajheri probe now with crime branch

Senior superintendent of police Dinesh Bhatt today handed over the inquiry of the triple murder case which took place at Kajheri on May 14 to the crime branch here.

Another chain snatched
Panchkula, July 6
Another incident of chain snatching was reported in Sector 6 today. Paramjit Kandhari, who is from Jabalpur and is visiting her parents here, was walking back from the market late in the afternoon when two motorcycle-borne youths snatched her chain. A case has been registered.—TNS

The All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has issued two letters of intent (LoI) to the Swami Vivekanand Group for starting two postgraduate programmes. Ashwani Garg, chairman, Swami Vivekanand of Institute of Engineering and Technology (SVIET), said the two new institutes - Swami Vivekanand Institute of Information and Technology (SV-IIT) for master of computer applications (MCA) and Swami Vivekanand Business School (SVBS) for master in business administration (MBA) - will be started this session.

HC notice to UT over women prisoners

A division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, comprising Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice Rajive Bhalla, today issued notice for July 17 to the Chandigarh administration, Punjab and Haryana on a PIL seeking directions to the respondents for lodging all women prisoners, including undertrials, only in special “all-women jails”.

Roller ball meet from July 12

The Haryana Roll Ball Association (HRBA) will organise the 4th Sub-Junior (u-14) and 5th Junior (u-17) National Roll Ball Championship for boys and girls from July 12 to 15 at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3, Panchkula. Around 400 players from 15 states are likely to participate in the tournament.
