UT counsel’s submissions on dera plea
Not pleased, HC seeks yet another affidavit

An affidavit submitted today by UT home secretary Krishna Mohan on behalf of the administration and Administrator, regarding submissions made by UT’s senior standing counsel before the High Court, failed to pacify the division bench, comprising Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Mr Justice Mahesh Grover.

Hema’s latest: 100 kg Rajbir

Possession of Mani Majra land any time

Armed with the Supreme Court order approving the acquisition of 400 acres of land in Mani Majra, the Chandigarh Administration is preparing to take possession of the land.

As many as 84 allottees of one-room dwelling units in Sector 56, rehabilitated from the “Madrasi” colony in November 2006 under the small flats scheme of 2006, will be ousted from their homes because they figure on a list of payment defaulters compiled by the Chandigarh Housing Board.

Five youths injured in accident
Chandigarh, July 19
Five youngsters were injured when their speeding Scorpio collided with a Maruti Alto car at a rotary near Chandigarh Club tonight. The Scorpio went out of control and did a somersault thrice before coming to a halt. The occupant of the other vehicle escaped with minor injuries.

Now, smart cards for students

Schoolchildren will now be equipped with smart cards to mark their attendance, issue books and deposit fees. XTECH+, which brought this technology to several colleges, has now introduced this system in schools as well.

Bhushan fashions Vivek win
