150 patients examined at camp
Ludhiana, July 22 A team of dentists, comprising Rajanbir Singh Thind, Amol Bhalla, Gurinder Kaur Thind and Sanjay Kumar, conducted the dental check up and gave tips on oral hygiene to those attending the camp. Thind said a large number of patients from gum diseases were examined in the camp. The camp was inaugurated by general secretary of Shri Durga Mata Trust Krishan Chand Gupta while the chief parliamentary secretary Harish Rai Dhanda welcomed the team of doctors and their staff. Patrons of the club Gurcharan Wadhera and Sukhdev Thapar, its Avinash Sikka, Ashok Marwaha, Rajesh Vikki, Jai Parkash, Subhash Bansal, Vijay Nayyar, Gian Bansal, Pawan Kapoor, Kala Sareen, Jagdish Gill, Joginder Joshila, Ramesh Kapoor, Pawan Sharma, Manju Sikka, Vijay Sablok, Rajeev Ahuja and Sanjeev Chopra were prominent among those present on the occasion. |

Hockey academy gets Rs 1.50 lakh grant
Ludhiana, July 22 Players made their presence felt by clinching a couple of titles in addition to finding place in the national camp. Besides, representing the state in the national championship, the academy lads won top honours in the Punjab Hockey League in the under-14 years category. In the Punjab school games, the academy players secured third position. Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Club office-bearers felicitated Dhaliwal and Grewal at function organised at Jarkhar today. Chairman Lakhbir Singh Grewal and president and Satinder Singh Kaka of the club thanked them for providing financial assistance. Jagroop Singh Jarkhar, Jora Singh, Harjinder Singh, Master Shingara Singh, Raj Singh Grewal, Gurvinder Singh (coach) and Pehalwan Gurmail Singh present on the occasion. An exhibition match was played on the occasion between Jarkhar Academy and Nankana Sahib Public School of Kila Raipur. |

Inter-school chess meet begins
Ludhiana, July 22 Participants from the host school, besides those from Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School, Sacred Heart Convent School, Greenland Public Senior Secondary School, Guru Nanak International School and BCM Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, had keen contests. The following were leading after second round. Imanjot Singh Deol, Bhupen Malik, Saksham Jain, Sahil Batra, Kunal Chawla, Shruti Tiwari and Shubhamdeep Kaur. Earlier, S C Saxena, principal of Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines, inaugurated the two day tournament in which 135 players are taking part. Office-bearers of the Ludhiana District Chess Association were present at the inaugural ceremony. |
