Mullanpur Dakha, September 2
Twelve hours before the visit of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to the city, the local police seized over 3 kg of RDX with detonators and other accessories from a Maruti Esteem car on the Ludhiana-Jagraon road, near Mullanpur Dakha, last night.

Gurpreet Singh, the car driver and a resident of Jangpur road locality, Mullanpur, was absconding after he dodged the policemen while they were searching the car.

Police investigation found that his father Tarlok Singh was also wanted in terrorism-related cases and was a proclaimed offender in a case.

SSP R.K. Jaiswal said 50-m wire, a detonator, iron pipes, sockets along with other accessories were found from the car. The man had kept the RDX in a jug, carelessly on the rear seat of the car along with other material.

The manís address was traced when the police questioned an auto-mechanic whose stickers were pasted on the headlights. He led the police to the house of Gurpreet, near Lal Kothi.

Moreover, the registration number of the 1994-make car was found to be fake.
