Atinder bags 2 gold medals in shooting

Ludhiana, September 4
Atinder Singh Garcha won two gold medals in the 16th Ludhiana District Shooting Championship organised by the District Rifle Association, Ludhiana, at the Markfed shooting ranges, Mohali, on September 1 and 2. Garcha won top honours in the air pistol event in the men's and junior men's sections. Sixtyfive shooters took part in the tournament, held in differnt categories.

Results: .22 open sight (junior men)- Mankeert Singh 1, Guriqbal Singh 2; open sight air rifle (sub junior men)- Manik 1; air rifle peep sight (men)- Arjun Grewal 1, Gaurav 2 and Guriqbal Singh 3; air rifle peep sight (junior men)- Arjun Grewal 1; air pistol (men)- Atinder Singh Garcha 1, Kuldeep Kumar 2 and Anak Dhanda 3; air pistol (junior men)- Atinder Singh Grewal 1, Gurdev 2 and Kuldeep Kumar 3; air pistol (sub-junior men)- Anak Dhanda 1, Karanpartap 2 and Gurpartap 3.

Air rifle peep sight (women)- Amandeep Kaur 1, Kiranjot Kaur 2 and Amreen 3; air rifle peep sight (junior women)- Amreen 1, Amandeep Kaur 2 and Navneet Kaur 3; air pistol (women)- Mehak Gupta 1, Jasleen Kaur 2 ande Sandeep Kaur 3; air pistol (junior women)- Mehak 1, Jasleen Kaur 2 and Sandeep Kaur 3; air pistol (sub junior women)- Aditi 1, Punoor Grewal 2 and Nishtha 3; air rifle peep sight (sub junior women)- Ridhi 1.

Ludhiana, September 4
The 18th edition of the Prithipal Singh Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament will be held at the indoor stadium of Punjab Agricultural University campus on September 8 and 9.

According to H R Marwaha, chairman of the organising committtee, competition in the cadet, sub-junior, junior boys and girls as well as men and women's sections will be conducted during this two-day meet.

Players from Ludhiana district only can participate in the tournament.There will be special events for PAU students. Attractive prizes will be given to the position holders.

Entries close on September 7 with the PAU table tennis coach, Jaspal Singh, organising secretary of the tournament.
