DMCH to hold medical camp

Ludhiana, October 4
The DMCH will organise a free chest check-up camp for patients suffering from various chronic respiratory problems on October 7 at chest OPD of the hospital. During this camp, free screening, including X-ray and lung function test, will be conducted.




Sacred Heart win bíminton tourney

Sacred Heart Convent School, Ludhiana, emerged winners in the boys section (u-14) in the CBSE North Zone- II Badminton Championship which concluded at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, here today. Apeejay Public School, Jalandhar, finished second while Sohrab Public School, Malerkotla, and Happy Child Public School, Panipat, secured third and fourth position.

In the girls u-14 years, Sohrab Public School, Malerkotla,won the title. The second and third spots were bagged by Apeejay Public School, Jalandhar, and Modern Vidya Niketan, Faridabad. DAV Public School, Amritsar, finished at fourth place.

DAV School, Lawrance road, Amritsar, lads annexed the title in the u-19 years section while Modern Vidya Niketan, Faridabad, won this honour in the girls section.

Dayanand Model School, Jalandhar, and Tagore Public School, Ludhiana, secured second and third position in the boys u-19 years section. In the girls section, Blue Bell School, Gurgaon, and Apeejay School, Jalandhar, got second and third spot.

In the boys u-16 years, Public Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani, came out triumphant to win the title while DPS, Faridabad, and Little Angels Public School, Panipat, finished second and third.

In the girls section (u-16), Sita Grammar School, Malerkotla, emerged champions while Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana, finished runners up. The Senior Study- II School, Amritsar, had to content with the third position.

Pushkar Vohra, AEO (sports), CBSE, New Delhi, gave away prizes. In her address, Paramjit Kaur, principal of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, congratulated the winners.



Rural sports meet concludes

Jarkhar blanked Jassowal 3-0 to emerge winners in the boys section of the two-day Ludhiana District Inter-Block Rural Sports Meet (u-16) organised by the Punjab sports department with the help of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at Guru Nanak Sports Complex, here today. Tejinder Pal Singh, Prabhpreet Singh and Gagadeep contributed one goal each to help Jarkhar emerge as block champions.

Ekamjot Kaur of Khanna block in the girls section while Gurpreet Singh, also of Khanna block won 100 mts sprint and were adjudged the fastest runners. Arvinder Kaur and Raspinder Singh of Pakhowal block finished runners up in the girls and boys sections, respectively.

Results: Athletics (boys)- 3000 mts: First- Paramdeep Singh of Raikot block and second Rajbir Singh of Khanna ; 400 mts- Vajinder Singh of Ludhiana stood first, Dharminder Kumar of Khanna block was second; high jump- Shivam Purbi of Raikot block was first and Amarjot Singh of Doraha block stood second; javelin throw- Mantoj Singh of Raikot block was first and Harpreet Singh of Khanna block stood second; 4x100 mts relay- Ludhiana II was first and Khanna block stood second.

Girls: 3000 mts- Jaspreet Kaur of Jagraon block stood first and Sandeep Kaur of Jagraon block srtood second; 400 mts- Rubia Sharma of Khanna block was first and Sukhbir of Raikot block was second; high jump- Ramandeep Kaur of Raikot block stood first and Navdeep Kaur of Pakhowal block was second; javelin throw- Ravneet Kaur of Raikot block was first and Nancy Passi of Raikot block stood second; 4x100 mts relay- Raikot block was first and Pakhowal block was second.

Kabaddi (boys): Pakhowal block bt Samrala block 52-36; (girls)- Pakhowal block bt Dehlon block 54-45.

Volleyball (boys): Khanna block bt Machhiwara block 3-0; (girls)- Sudhar block bt Jagraon block 3-0.

Tug of war (boys): Samrala block bt Khanna block.

Football (boys): Sudhar block bt Jagraon block 3-0.
