Margi Fire: Leaders replace relief

Jammu, October 24
An IAF chopper, which had to carry relief material to the fire-ravaged village of Margi in the remote Marwah area of Kishtwar district, today left behind the essential commodities to carry politicians to the spot, official sources said.

Officials engaged in the distribution of relief told UNI that one of the two MI-17 helicopters of the IAF, which were assigned the task to take essential commodities for the fire victims, left behind relief material to make space for two politicians from Kishtwar.

“The relief material, which was to be carried for the fire victims, was unloaded from a chopper at Kishtwar from where former power minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sharief Niaz and MLC Ghulam Haider Shiekh were flown to Marwah, this morning,” they said.

However, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, accompanied by law and finance minister Tariq Hameed Qarra, reached the spot by a private chopper, they added. “The increased VVIP movement is forcing officials engaged in rescue operations at the village give attention to politicians over the victims,” an officer rued. — UNI
