The police was believed to have rounded up an accused of the Khamano bank robbery following a tip-off, but the person was let-off today after eyewitnesses stated that he was not the man who had carried out the robbery on October 24.

424 fertiliser bags missing

Assistant registrar of the cooperative societies Kuldeep Singh found 424 bags of DAP fertilizers short while he was checking the stock at Dangian. According to information, Gurpreet Singh, member, dangian cooperative agriculture society, had lodged a complaint with the assistant registrar about the pilferage.

IHRO forms 5-member panel

Man immolates self

Rajinder Singh (45), a resident of Mukandpuri, Jagraon, allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire. According to information, Surinder Kaur, his wife, along with daughters Navjit Kaur and Gurdip Kaur and son Gagandeep Singh, left home at 5. 30 a.m for paying obeisance at Nanaksar gurdwara.

Appreciating the stand taken by Punjab state branch of the Indian Medical Association with regard to instruction of health department for ID proof of pregnant women undergoing ultrasonography, the Ludhiana Radiology Association and Ludhiana Obstetrics and Gynecological Society have decided to suspend ultrasound examination of pregnant women on Nov 1 and 2, as a mark of protest.
