Pratyush, Inderjeet lead BCM to victory

Ludhiana, November 5
Host BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh road branch, Ludhiana, registered victories in the boys and girls sections on the second day of the CBSE Cluster XVI Basketball Tournament (u-19) being played here today.

In the boy’s section, BCM School, Chandigarh road branch, defeated Shivalik Public School, Nawanshahr, 66-26. Inderjeet and Pratyush played important role in BCM’s easy win, contributing 20 and 22 points, respectively.

In the girl’s section, host recored 37-26 win against Spring Dale Public School, Amritsar. However, in the boy’s section, Spring Dale School came out triumphant (44-12) against Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar Cantonment. Gurvinder netted 17 points for the winners while Guriqbal scored 8 points for the losers.

In another match in the boy’s section, GRD Public School, Ferozepur, fought a pitched battle against Delhi Public School, Jalandhar, before romping home winners, 45-42. Navjot and Virender contributed 20 and 10 points, respectively, for GRD School while Rahul chipped in with 13 points for DPS, Jalandhar.

In other matches (boys), Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Amritsar, beat Baba Lalwani Public School, Kapurthala, 40-20; Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police School, Phillaur, proved too good for Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Ludhiana, 31-8; USPC Jain Public School, Ludhiana, defeated SHC SD Public School, Jalandhar, 47-30; Police DAV Public School, Amritsar, thrashed Apeejay Public School, Jalandhar, 58-17; Kirpal Sagar Academy, Nawanshahr, outplayed Delhi Public School, Ludhiana, 31-7; MGN School, Kapurthala, toyed with Sacred Heart Public School, Kapurthala, 42-9 and BSF School, Jalandhar Cantonement, overpowered Green Land Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, 44-34.

In the second match played in the girl’s section, Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, outclassed Spring Dale Senior Secondary School, Amritsar, 37-26.

The College of Agricultural Engineering scored a thrilling 4-run win over College of Agriculture in the Punjab Agricultural University Inter-College Cricket Tournament held at the university campus ground, here today.

In the final, batting first, COAE scored 180 runs. The main scorers were Sagar (39), Rajnish (32), Sanjeev Behal (30), Rohit Batta (15) and Rohit (11). For College of Agriculture, Vishal and Sunil grabbed four wickets each.

In reply, College of Agriculture’s innings folded at 176 runs thus falling short of the target by five runs. Their innings revolved around Vishal (71), Sunil (34) and Jashanpreet (18). For COAE, Sanjeev Behal scalped four victims.

Sanjeev Behal of COAE was declared the man of the match.
