Fake Currency
Big fish evade police net

Ludhiana, November 20
Even though the police has arrested seven persons in the last few days on charges of circulating fake currency, none of the prime accused or gang leaders have been nabbed so far. Those arrested were only conduits. The police zeroed in on a Delhi-based supplier identified as Chauhan, but he, too, managed to escape. His alleged accomplice, Vikram Luthra, an employee with a local bank, was nabbed with just Rs 2,500 counterfeit notes.

Brick-kiln assn head booked for fraud
Ludhiana, November 20
The police has booked Inderpal Walia, president of the Ludhiana District Brick-kiln Owners Association, and Rajesh Kumar Singla on charges of duping a brick-kiln owner of Rs 2.87 lakh by not supplying him coal despite taking money in advance.

Striking a rich haul, the local police has seized 390 kg of poppy husk from the premises of a narcotics smuggler here.

The Khanna police has arrested a Nepalese resident with 12 kg poppy husk. The accused, identified as Arjun Kumar, son of Ran Bahadur and resident of Nepal, was arrested near the level crossing in Narottam Nagar here.
