Farmers gift land worth crores
Ludhiana, January 25
While those living alongside the Jalandhar bypass are opposing their eviction for constructing a bypass on the National Highway No. 1, a few farmers of various villages in the district have set an example of sorts by giving their agricultural land for development of the Laddowal bypass to the government free of cost.

City boy wins gold medal at NASA
Ludhiana, January 25
It was like climbing the first step of the ladder when Divyansh Aggarwal won a gold medal at NASA. An alumnus of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, Divyansh is at present studying at Gurgaon. “My school gave me a new outlook towards life and gave me many opportunities to develop myself in all aspects. One such opportunity came my way when I was selected for the Global Millenium Development Goals Summit (2008) in Mumbai.

Amritsar-Kochuvelli express on track
Ludhiana, January 25
Among jubilation, the new weekly express train (2483/2484) Amritsar-Kochuvelli-Amritsar (via New Delhi) had its maiden run from Amritsar, picking up passengers from here this morning. The train was reintroduced on a permanent basis after a successful trial run around a month ago.

Ludhiana, January 25
There is hope for Budda Nullah after the matter went to the Punjab and Haryana High Court even as the ganda nullah that flows within the city limits is facing the apathy of the MC. The nullah flows through Field Ganj, Islam Ganj, Issan Nagri, Kot Alamgir, Amarpura, Kidwai Nagar, Hargobindpura and Mohan Singh Nagar and has become a bane for the old city.

Republic Day celebrated
Ludhiana, January 25
The Republic Day was celebrated with great zeal and vigour on the campus of GMT Public School. Fancy dress competition was organised and the campus was decorated with flowers and flags. Kashmir Singh Thind and Jasbir Singh Thind, directors, and Amarjit Dhaliwal, principal, presided over the function and gave away prizes to the winners.
