9 kids hurt as bus overturns

A major tragedy was averted when a school van of BCM School, Chandigarh Road, ferrying students back home collided with a mini-bus and overturned near Vardhman chowk here this afternoon.

3 young lives snuffed out in accident
Jagraon, February 5
Three youths were killed in an accident yesterday evening. The accident took place near Dakha village around 7.30 pm when the victims riding a motorcycle (PB 10 BQ 7827) were hit by a Scorpio car (CH04C 6476) coming from Ludhiana.

Dulcha Brar submits reply of chargesheet

For the first time in the past five months, Dr Dulcha Singh Brar, Director, Students Welfare, PAU, the accused in the "sexual harassment" case, has come forward and given his version on "the much-hyped" case. He also said he had submitted the reply of the charge-sheet to Vice-Chancellor Dr MS Kang here last evening.

NRI detained at IGI Airport 
Was trying to encash forged US pay orders worth Rs 300 cr

The local police has arrested an NRI while he was trying to escape from India. Harvinder Singh, son of Mal Singh of Kamalpura village, is based in Holland. He was being kept under constant surveillance after international pay orders of a US bank worth Rs 300 crore were seized from his possession.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan passes HRD test
Ludhiana, February 5
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan programme in Punjab. A three-member team of the HRD Ministry visited Mansa and Jalandhar districts last month and inspected the implementation of the SSA programme. After the visit of the team, a review committee was held in Delhi last week.
