GPA holders get occupancy rights

Ultimately, the decks have been cleared for general power of attorney (GPA) holders in the cooperative group housing societies to have occupancy rights legally. For, the administration has drafted a regularisation policy under which the GPA holders will pay a fixed amount to have property in their own names.

School board roll nos a click away
Mohali, February 10
Students missing annual exams due to delay in getting roll numbers is now a thing of past. The roll numbers can be generated online from the website of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). For the first time, the board authorities have installed software to enable the students to get a computer-generated roll number while sitting at home.

Garib Rath to Jaipur from Feb 14
Chandigarh, February 10
At last, the Northern Railway has fulfilled its commitment to run Garib Rath between Chandigarh and Jaipur. The train will replace special holiday train that had been running for the past one year as an interim arrangement. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Ambala division, Karan Singh, told The Tribune that the Garib Rath from Chandigarh to Jaipur would run from February 14 and the reverse pair from Jaipur to Chandigarh would run on February 13.

Ram Dayal Hookran, a sub-inspector in the Chandigarh Police, today organised an education trip of underprivileged students of seven schools of Hoshiarpur district. Consumer forum starts in Mohali
Mohali, February 10
The Mohali district consumer forum became functional, with its inauguration by the Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, in Phase 2 here today. After inaugurating the court, the minister said all the consumer forums were being linked through Internet.

Justice Tej Pratap Singh Mann today issued notice for February 27 to Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Dr RC Sobti on an application filed by Dr Rajesh Kochhar. He was seeking directions to restrain the respondent from going ahead with the interview, slated for March 4, for selecting and appointing professor and head of Rajiv Gandhi chair for contemporary studies.

DAV-8, GNPS-36 to lock horns in final
Chandigarh, February 10
DAV-8 and GNPS-36 after winning their respective semifinal matches registered final berth in the Inter-School Cricket Tournament for boys’ u-19 for Advisor’s Cup. In the first semifinal of the day, DAV-8 got the better of GMSSS-35 by 18 runs here at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium. DAV School, who after wining the toss elected to bat first, didn’t have a good start, as their openers failed to perform today. However, their strong middle order sailed the team to a respectable total. Sachin Sohal, who played sensible knock of 21 runs for GMSSS-35, misses a ball during their semifinal against DAV-8 at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium.

One-and-a-half-year wait of the 16-member Panjab University men baseball team for certificates came to an end as the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) sent their certificates for the All India Inter-University Baseball Championship that the team won in October 2007.
