Lecture: A special lecture was delivered on “Dynamics of globalisation” by an eminent sociologist Prof SL Sharma in the University School of Open Learning here on Tuesday. Prof Sharma discussed the role of information technology and market integration in the unionisation of world society. Elected: The members of 1st Eco Friendly Sports Organisation were elected in a meeting here on Monday at New Public School, Sector 18. The elected members as governing body are RD Singh- president; Vivek Lakahnpal- general secretary; Rakesh Kumar-treasurer; Rakesh Gupta, Sanjay Kaushal and Shiv K Gupta as executive members.

Official held for HM links: A Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Department employee, identified as Ghulam Hassan of Shagla Koti, has been arrested for having links with Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in Doda district, police sources here on Tuesday said. The accused was apprehended on Monday evening when he was on way to meet Hizbul militant in Doda. A case has been registered against him.Police to recruit 5,000 youths:Around 5,000 young men in the state will be recruited for five Indian Reserve Battalions being raised in the state. “The recruitment drive for constables and others jobs have been started to raise five IRP battalions,” police officials said, adding that the district-wise applications for the posts have been invited from Tuesday. One strangulated to death: The body of a 25-year-old youth, identified as Fida Hussain Bhat, was found in a three-wheeler on the outskirts of the city, official sources said. Bhat of Habbakadal area was found dead in an auto rickshaw at Shariefabad bridge on Tuesday morning. Initial investigations reveal strangulation to be the cause of Bhat’s death and a case has been registered.
