Fire breaks out in building
Ludhiana, February 27
A fire broke out on the second floor of a building at Mahavir Colony in Sunder Nagar at around 3.45 pm here today.
Three fire engines were pressed into service to control the fire. Within a few minutes, the fire spread to the third floor and people in nearby buildings were asked to vacate the buildings.

College and university teachers organised a strike and held a dharna here today in protest against the non-implementation of the UGC pay scales notification issued by the Ministry of Human Resources Development on December 31.

setback thanks to the large-scale piracy of the same and lack of strong
laws for checking piracy. The successive government’s in Punjab has
failed to put an end to the piracy and the singers, film directors and
actors and producers of the films have formed an organisation known as
“Punjabi Front”. The front has set up a 13-member action committee
for protecting the music and film industry.

Attempt on life, three youths held

Three youths have been arrested after being booked under Sections 307, 450, 324, 323, 148 and 149 of the IPC for allegedly trying to kill a youth and injuring three others with sharp-edged weapons, after they entered into a Punjab State Lottery booth near a bus stand eight days ago. Weapons used in the crime were recovered from their possession.

Three motorcycle-borne youths allegedly snatched Rs 2 lakh from an employee at Kadwai Nagar in a broad daylight here today. Snatchers managed to disperse the crowd which tried to restrict them by firing a few shots in the air.
