Baba helped Sonu get passport: Police

Within hours of being brought to the city, the alleged terrorist, Gurbhej Singh Sonu, told the Chandigarh Police that baba Sarup Singh of Gurdwara Santsar Sahib, Sector 38-West, helped him in getting a passport issued on fake documents on which he went to many countries.

Illegal guesthouses mushrooming
20 in single lane at Burail village
Chandigarh, March 9
Even as the Municipal Corporation (MC) claims that there are 40 guesthouses in the municipal limits, number of “unauthorised” guesthouses are mushrooming right under the nose of the authorities. A random survey of only three villages, Burail, Kajheri and Attawa, is enough to belie the claims of the MC.
During a visit to Burail village, it was found that most of the guesthouses were running illegally at the residential areas. Even the owners have not put signboards of the guesthouses. In single lane, as many as 20 guesthouses were located in village.

Man gets 7 years for rape

Additional district and sessions judge SK Aggarwal today sentenced Ramesh Kumar to rigorous imprisonment of seven years for raping a minor girl in 2007. Ramesh, a resident of Colony No. 4, was convicted under Sections 363, 366, 376, 120-B of  the IPC.
