Navreet Kang is Punjab Home Secy

Chandigarh, March 10
The Punjab government today appointed Navreet Singh Kang as Home Secretary. His name was cleared by the Election Commission from a panel sent by the state government. Chief Secretary Ramesh Inder Singh said the order would be implemented with immediate effect. Kang replaces Sudhir Mittal, whose removal was ordered by the ECI following complaint against him and two police officer by the Congress.

Kang was Financial Commissioner (Development) and his name was included in the panel along with DS Jaspal and AR Talwar. The EC has also cleared the name of Gurjit Deo for appointment as Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Border range in place of Parampal Singh Sidhu. Gurmeet Singh Chauhan has been appointed SSP (Rural) Amritsar in place of Ranbir Singh Khatra.
