432 women students given degrees

The annual convocation of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan campus, was held here today. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was the chief guest on this occasion. The function began with shabad “Deh Shiva Var Mohe”. College principal Dr Karmjit Kaur Virdi welcomed the chief guest and presented the annual report of the college highlighting the achievements of the students in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

Malwa school celebrates annual day

Deputy director (Education) Roshan Lal Sood, while addressing the prize distribution function of Malwa Model High School, here today, said: “We were worried over the deterioration in the standard of education, which has pushed our state at 17th position in the country, thanks to the wisdom of Education Minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur, who succeeded to improve up to seventh position.”

NGO formed to fight drug addiction
Ludhiana, March 28
Disgruntled over the inconsequential role of the state government to curb drug addiction among the youth in Punjab, chemists of Ludhiana along with the local youth have formed an NGO ‘Pehl for social reforms’. The NGO members today discussed the possibility of announcing an ‘independent candidate’.
