Body found
: The dead body of Harwinder Kaur, wife of Baldev Singh of Kach-Dharokalan village under Rangar Nangal police station was recovered on Friday from the village fields. Harwinder Kaur had been missing from her house since March 30. Ranger Nangal police station has registered a case under section 302, IPC, against unidentified persons. — OC

Temple website launched: The festival of Ram Navmi was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the managing committee of Pracheen Shri Ram Mandir here on Friday. The committee even launched a website on one of the oldest historical Ram Temple. The website was inaugurated by senior Congress leader Dr Sikandar Singh. The committee decided to launch the website as lot of devotees having faith in this temple were spread all over the world. A large number of devotees thronged the temple and participated in Ram Charitar Manas path and Sunder Kand path. — OC

: The Army has invited applications for recruitment of havildars (education) in the Army Education Corps in the science and arts streams for Groups X and Y. Burglars:
The local police has brought three accused, Kulbir Singh of Mazara Dhingrian village, Roshan Lal, alias Rosha, of Tibba, Phagwara, and Kishan Bhaiya of Chhapar, Bihar, on production warrants from Phillaur, Jalandhar. They were wanted in two cases of burglaries registered at Sadar police station. They looted Palwinder Singh and his wife at Garhi. — OC

MOHALI
Bar association meet: A joint meeting of the members of both the Bar associations of Mohali was held here on Thursday at which it was unanimously decided that a common association of the lawyers be formed in the town. Parminder Singh Toor, General Secretary, Bar association, Mohali, said it was decided to hold elections in this regard and a seven-member committee was constituted which would prepare a list of the members of both the associations by April 10. The date for holding the election and the appointment of the returning officer would be decided after scrutinising the list. — OC

Medical camp
: Social activist Satish Kumar Joshi, along with his other associates, is organising a medical camp at the shopping complex in Sector 3 here on April 5 and 6. He said that patients suffering from cervical and joint pain, migraine, depression and other gastric ailments would be provided treatment through the acupressure and acupuncture system of treatment by Dr Pradeep Kumar Bansal, a specialist from Delhi. — OC

Public meetings: District Magistrtae-cum-District Electoral Officer CG Rajini Kaanthan has specified the following venues in the district for holding of public meetings by political parties as well as candidates contesting the Lok Sabha polls. As such, HUDA’s vacant campus near Rajesh Pilot Chowk and open space lying behind the district secretariat in the city, open ground lying in front of Janata High School near the Rasiawas road and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park in Bawal town, Municipal campus lying near the municipal committee and HUDA’s campus in front of the town’s park at Dharuhera and the HUDA ground at Kosli, have been earmarked as venues for election meetings. — OC

Man killed in mishap:
A man was killed while his wife and son were seriously injured, when the scooter the family was riding was hit by a canter near the Ding road on the national highway on Friday. Victim Laxman Yadav hailed from Bihar and was working at liquor vend here. The other two were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital. — TNS

One killed: Himmat Singh, a farmer, was killed when the jeep he was driving hit into a tractor trolley near Ottu head on Thursday. He was returning to Sirsa from his fields in Dhamora Theri village when the incident happened. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but was shifted to Hisar due to his serious condition. He, however, succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. — TNS

Remanded
: Judicial Magistrate Sidhartha Sarpal has remanded Khazana Ram of Jamala village of Nahamole gram panchayat to police custody for five days here on Wednesday, who was earlier arrested by the police on charges of murdering his wife, Nirmla Devi. Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Sharma said here on Thursday that Khazana and Lekh Ram, both brothers, were detained by the police for interrogation in connection with the death of Nirmala. — OC

Appointed: Basant Ram Sandhu, a prominent Dalit leader here in Bilaspur district, has been appointed vice-president of the District Congress Committee here. 2 kids die in mishaps
: Two children were killed in two separate accidents in this district on Friday. One Lot Ram (5) was crushed to death by a Jeep at the Ghiyagi Bridge in the Banjar subdivision. The child was adopted by one Fateh Chand only a month back. In another accidental death one child Ajay Kumar (10) took insecticide by mistake in the Chahavi village of Ani sub division of the district. He was declared brought dead by the doctors in the Ani Hospital. — OC

Three held: The police nabbed one woman and two men involved in immoral practices from a rented building at Dhalpur, near regional hospital, here on Wednesday night. According to the police, one Roshan Lal, son of Ruldu Ram of Joginder nagar in Mandi district, was allegedly involved in sex racket and operating at three places in Kullu town. On the complaint of the neighbours, the police raided the premises and found the arrested persons in objectionable posture. — OC
