2 MBA students of Lovely varsity drowned in Beas

Dharamsala, April 13
Three persons, including two MBA students of Lovely University, Jalandhar, were drowned in the Beas this evening. The sources available here said that they had come to participate in the Baisakhi mela organised near Paragpur, about 60 km from here.

The deceased have been identified as Anil, an MBA student of Lovely University from Patna in Bihar, and Karan Dua, also an MBA student of the same institute. The police sources said a few students of the institute had come to participate in the Baisakhi mela here today.

Both of them strayed into deep waters of the Beas and got caught in the strong flow. Karan Dua initially got carried away in the flow of the river water. Anil tried to save him but failed and both were drowned. Till the filing of this report the divers from the BBMB who are deputed here during the mela were trying to locate the bodies of missing students.

The third person who was drowned in the mela was Raghuvir, a resident of Kaloa village in Una district.

The sources said three other persons had also got washed away in strong currents of the water but were rescued by the residents. The SP, Kangra, Atul Phulzele said that all efforts were being made to locate the missing students. The students who were accompanying Anil and Karan Dua have stated that both them were drowned.

A large number of people from Punjab and Haryana come here to take holy dip in the river on the occasion. Till the filing of the report no body was recovered.
