Boards ‘fixing’ rates for various performers that have come up in ward number 1 in Ludhiana Posters stir hornet’s nest
Ludhiana, April 15
In perhaps first of its kind in the city, walls in Ward no. 1 of the Municipal Corporation are dotted with posters and boards fixing money to be paid to performers like eunuchs, “marasis” and “baazigars”. The information is put up on various buildings in different areas and streets of the ward, including those near the gurdwara.
The information on one of the boards has allegedly been issued by the municipal councillor and the area residents fixing Rs 510 to be paid to eunuchs, Rs 201 to “bhands and Rs 101 to “bazigars”.

Rural sports festival held

Manpreet Singh Ayali, Bhag Singh Malla, Gurdeep Singh Gidderwindi and others with the kabadi team of players above the age of 40 years at a rural festival organised at Gidderwindi village About 147 teams from all over Punjab participated in the rural sports fest held here. In the kabbadi tourney organised by the Puppy Sports club of Gidderwindi village, 24 teams participated. The team from Chanjli village defeated the team from Jheneri village and bagged first position. Famous kabbadi player Pinda, commentator Gursewak Singh and Babbu Tihara were also present.
